New book about the history of the aircraft builder Savoia-Marchetti. The book is filled with photographs, but written in Italian. Interesting are some of the drawings of the S.55 showing the interior of the aircraft. There are also a few colour profiles.
The authors write themselve: “In 1934, it flew for the first time: the prototype of an aircraft destined to become the legendary symbol Italian Aviation and its world supremacy: its initials was “S.79”, its designer Eng. Alessandro Marchetti. In the early years of his career, his aircraft captured primates, won competitions, breaking all the barriers of his predecessors. Another peculiarity distinguished it: the possibility of further increasing the thrust of its engines for short periods; this was the “most percent” and this has SIAI-Marchetti always forwarded, always to the maximum, ever since 1915. Today, one hundred years have passed, we rediscover a never forgotten past to build a future memorable: that’s why the authors wrote this book.”
This picture book with a soft cover is very good for scale modellers and people just wanting to enjoy a good book with many pictures.
